When were we born?

The Western North Carolina Parrot Head Club, founded in 1998 is a charter member of
(PHiP) Parrot Heads in Paradise, Inc. The purpose of PHiP is to promote the
international network of Parrot Head Clubs as a humanitarian group sharing information
and social activities for mutual benefit.

What is this “Golden Coconut” and how did we win it?

The coveted award “The Golden Coconut Award” is presented annually at the National
Convention of PHiP, Meeting of the Minds, currently held in mid to late October in Gulf
Shores Alabama. This honor is given to the club who is most deserving based upon
their local efforts in giving back to the community & environment. In 2003, the Western
North Carolina Parrot Head Club won this prestigious award for time volunteered and
funds raised!

What is the WNCPHC?

The Western North Carolina Parrot Head Club now spans almost 3 decades in age and
has given many different charities including: Manna Food Bank, American Red Cross,
Helpmate, Humane Society of Asheville & Madison Counties, St. Jude’s Children’s
Hospital, Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry, Paramedics for Children,
Alzheimer’s Association, Hearts with Hands, Arts for Life, WNC Down’s Syndrome
Alliance, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Relay for Life, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society,
Military Aide, Toys for Tots, Save the Manatee, Kentucky Coal Mine Mission, Flood
Victim Relief, Hands on Hurricane Relief for Families in Eastern North Carolina, Project
Linus, Music Scholarship for WNC Student, Eblen Charities, quarterly “Adopt-A-
Highway” clean-up in Black Mountain.
While our club was waxed and waned with COVID and Hurricane Helene, we are
rebounding and rebuilding with renewed passion and strength. In 2026, we helped
raise $42,000 with one event for the WNC Down’s Syndrome Alliance and have
surpassed previous amounts raised for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Alzheimers
Association.

What is PHIP?

Parrot Heads in Paradise (PHiP) promotes the international network of Parrot Head
Clubs as a humanitarian group sharing information and social activities for mutual
benefit. PHiP engages in activities that are charitable, educational and that promote the
general welfare of the community. Parrot Heads in Paradise, Inc. is a Not-For-Profit
Corporation, whose purpose is to assist in community and environmental concerns and
provide a variety of social activities for people who are interested in the music of Jimmy
Buffett and the tropical lifestyle he personifies.
With over 170 chapters in 2025, PHiP donated over $2 million and contributed more
than 150,000 volunteer hours!

You’ll have an opportunity to meet the best pholks in the area, who enjoy meeting new friends, enjoying music, food and drink at a multitude of venues. We serve together in many fundraisers and charitable events.
