Western North Carolina PHC is a local chapter of “Parrot Heads in Paradise, Inc”. PHIP is a National Organization of fans of Jimmy Buffett, his music and philosophy of giving back to the community & environment in which we reside. We promote friendship, volunteer service and the tropical “laid back” style of life…
We have raised over $300,000 since the club began in 1998. In the past 12 months we have donated over $35,000 and volunteered almost 1000 hours!
Who is Jimmy Buffett?
James William Buffett (December 25, 1946 – September 1, 2023) was an American singer-songwriter, author, and businessman. He was known for his tropical rock sound and persona. He promoted enjoying life, serving others and following our passions.
What is a Parrot Head?
A Parrot Head simply refers to someone who is a fan of Jimmy Buffett’s music, Trop Rock music and the beach lifestyle that he promoted….and they are EVERYWHERE! Flocking around, enjoying life and serving their communities. These crazy tropical attire wearing folks are always smiles from ear to ear and very welcoming to others!
Why are we Parrot Heads?
Being a Parrot Head is also much more. For most Parrot Heads, there is a specific state of mind that comes with their condition. Age has nothing to do with it. It is all about Fun, Music and Charity!

Party with a Purpose!
- Flip Flop Hop February 2026-Largest fundraiser for Down Syndrome Association! We raised over $42,000 with 461 Parrot Head volunteer hours!
- Other fundraisers for charities in the last 12 months include Bowling For Kids Sake for Big Brothers/Sisters, Hearts With Hands, Bikes For Kids, Arts For Life, , Alzheimer’s raffles at AIA Jimmy Buffett Tribute Concert at The Boatyard LKN and Labor Day Jimmy Buffett Celebration at Mills River Brewing.
